Keep your animals healthy

All animals need special care to keep them healthy. They need good food, clean water as well as shelter from the rain and sun.

There are many fatal animal diseases that can be prevented by vaccinations. Rabies is one disease but there is also
a) In dogs – parvovirus, distemper virus, leptospirosis
b) In cats – cat flu, feline leukaemia virus and cat parvovirus

Animals also have problems with worms inside them so regular worming is important. Many young puppies and kittens die of worms.

Insects on the animals like fleas and lice skin cause irritation and hair loss. Ticks carry diseases that can be fatal for dogs and cats. The best products to use are ones that prevent insects landing and feeding but they are quite expensive to use.

If you neuter your animals, they are less likely to be injured or killed in accidents or to catch diseases.

This is just a brief description of common animal problems in Cambodia. Cattle, pigs and goats also need vaccinations and worming. Please ask a veterinarian more advice or information.
